On 10 July 2025, Blossoms headlined a show at the excellent Open Air Theatre in Scarborough, UK. Many fans were confused by the location of the gig at first, as Scarborough is on the North East coast of the UK, with its nearest big cities being York and Leeds – but they were pleasantly surprised by this cheerful city by the end of the trip.
The venue was located near the open sea, with it being just a brisk walk down the street, until the cold air would take up the atmosphere. During the day, fans were gladly accommodated by the small amusement park that was right next to the venue, where they could enjoy a few water rides.
With the sun slowly setting, the opening acts began to warm up the crowd. The band Apollo Junction was the first band to set the stage. While not a lot of people seemed to know the band, that did not stop them from jumping and enjoying their music. Inhaler were next on stage, and as Blossoms and Inhaler have toured together before, the fans were not unfamiliar with the band, dancing and singing to all of their songs.
The redness sat on the crowd’s cheeks in anticipation as Blossoms finally came on, and the first iconic notes of “Your Girlfriend” started playing. The crowd cheered and sang along happily.
They played a notable setlist with songs like “Honey Sweet,” “Nightclub,” “I Like Your Look,” and quite obviously, their most popular track, “Charlemagne.” My personal favourite also appeared on the setlist, a song called “Mothers.”
For their last song, their fans came prepared. A lot attended the concert with inflatable monkeys, monkey facemasks or glasses with ‘Gary’ written on them, referencing the band’s song and recent album. The tune, as the band describes, is about the “eight-foot-tall [gorilla], with a fibreglass heart,” called Gary.
The crowd was in complete euphoria after their performance. Most were glad to have travelled all the way to the small town, to have experienced this show.
