Dayfiction are a band from Richmond, VA, consisting of five members: Evan Solomon (guitar & vocals), Noah Brown (guitar), Mateo Melchor Dutto (guitar), Jackson Prior (bass), and Hannah Johnson (drums).
Self-describing themselves as “Virginia Post Punk”, Dayfiction released their brand-new, sophomore EP, “Diplomat”, this August.
Their previous work includes the 2024 full-length album, “Blurry World”, which helped establish their base sound, as well as the debut EP, “Porcelain Bud”, released in 2023.
Upon listening to their discography, the tracks “Bullet In The Sun”, “Euphoric Horror” and “Peacemaker” stand out to me the most, and I would recommend them for anyone looking to discover new music.
Dayfiction have recently supported the Irish band Inhaler on their Open Wide US Tour, with 16 September marking their biggest audience to date. The band has also supported local bands, as well as holding their own gigs in and out of state.
It is evident that Dayfiction have a stable foundation as a punk bank hoping to progress and develop in the upcoming years – and I am excited to see where the journey takes them with their lyricism and execution alike.
