Following the release of their debut EP “Age of the Open Book” in April 2025, the up-and-coming alt-rock band Kapayja gears up with their new single, “Slowly,” which gives their sonic landscape a new swing.

Kapayja (pronounced: cap-asia) is a four-member, independent band from Dublin, Ireland that is defined by blistering riffs, thumping rhythms and heart-on-sleeve lyrics.

The members consist of Joshua Neery (lead singer), Eoghan Dawson (drums), Cal McLaughlin (guitar) and Tom Burke (bass).

They sold out a headline show in Whelan’s Upstairs in Dublin on 22 April 2025, marking a notable milestone in their career thus far, and continue to carve out their place in Ireland’s alternative scene.

With guitars blazing and roaring vocals, “Slowly” is a little different from their debut EP, home to songs like “Livin’” and “Sirens.”

The song is rougher, grittier and bolder than their predecessors and takes its inspiration from bands like Turnstile and Nirvana.

Joshua Neary, Kapayja’s frontman, comments: “From the first run through at rehearsals to what it is now, this song grew legs. It can stand on its own and be put up against the best.”

Bold and hungry, “Slowly” is the sound of a band ready to make their mark, and we can’t wait for the moment they do.
