If you love shoegaze, then you’ll be happy to learn that DWF, Texas, just gave us the new shoegaze band that everyone needs to tune into!

Swaan recently released their debut single, and it’s a great chill vibe. With promising members from well-loved local bands already, Swaan comes onto the scene as a band the area knows it can trust to provide quality music.

The release is a tribute to the late Isaac Goldsmith, who sadly passed away before the release of “Whirlpull". We would like to dedicate a moment to his legacy before we get started.

Issac Goldsmith was not just the drummer of Swaan, but a wonderful human being who graced many with his presence on- and offstage. He was always there, ready to help, and formed a big part of the DFW music scene.

While his time here with us was short, he gave us many smiles and laughs, hugs and support when needed, and plenty of amazing music to carry others in hard times and to carry his memory on past what time we will even see ourselves. Issac is immortalised by his music and the people who knew and loved him. He will be missed.

On October 2, 2026, the newcomers Swaan released their debut single called “Whirlpull”. And this track… It is an utter dream state we would happily stay in!

The production on this single is incredible, with the signature instrumental and vocal melding that shoegaze is known for. The lyrics are still audible, with a dreamlike veil layered over them, without taking away from the song. By having to concentrate on the words to hear what is being said, you can listen and float along with them as they play some of their best music.

The lyrics are meaningful and honestly rather beautiful to read, with lines like “Could this world leave us behind? & could we lose our place in time? / I would give it all away If it meant you'd stay / I'd wait for you”. The song is both nice to just exist with and to connect with. We love a dual-purpose track!

I would love to see this song land a placement in a movie or show, in scenes of love and loss, as I believe this is a beautiful duality that makes sense for love that is growing or love that is grieving.

The way the song flows allows it to, once again, take you on its adventure, and with visuals attached, I believe it has the potential to be a powerful placement track. But this is also a great casual listen for when you're just hanging out, driving, working, or going about your regular day.

Band fact: “The cover image for the song (originally captured sometime around 2014-2015) features a teenage Isaac, sitting outside with a sheephead prop that was found within his church at the time. Issac, Zach, and Jordan all grew up together in Cleburne, TX.”

This song is not only the start of a new band, but also a masterclass in what the individuals can do and how they can blend genres to make even more music, as the members span different projects that encompass genres ranging from metalcore to other areas of the music scene. Putting them together on this project only takes what they can do and amplifies it.

I can see this track and project taking off and going a really long way. With the skills and talents they have and their ability to continue learning and developing over time, I am excited to see what this band has in store for the future.
